Nicolás utilizes Photography, Graphic Design and Gouache to create unique and evocative pieces.
His manipulation of the medium and his personal perspective echoes his love of history giving his paintings a deeply rich, almost old-world quality.
What is Gouache?
Gouache (pronounced gwash) is an ‘opaque watercolor’ or ‘body color.’ Unlike regular watercolor, Gouache forms a thicker layer of paint on the paper surface not allowing the paper to show through. The final result is a velvety matte finish of vibrant colors that are lightfast, smooth and solid.
Gouache is not a new medium. Albrecht Durer and Henri Matisse used gouache to create some of their most recognizable works.
